Description: A limestone diversion well had been installed along Martins Run near Rt 125 in July 1996 in order to treat the stream. The stream was primarily made up of the Eureka Tunnel and Colket Tunnel mine discharges. The Army National Guard (Red Horse Division provided the excavator and manpower. The well was 6 foot diameter, 6 feet deep. Approximately 160 feet of 8 inch pipe was used and provided 10 feet of vertical drop. The Frailey Township roadmaster maintained the well. In the summer of 2006 a large flood filled the diversion well with debris and possibly caused additional damage. The diversion well was removed that same summer and was not replaced.
