  • Ravine Wetlands
    Passive Treatment System
    Swatara Creek
    Pine Grove

The project consisted of constructing two anoxic wetland cells. Each cell consisted of a mixture of mushroom compost and limestone and approximately two and one half feet of standing water. The berms and spillways of the wetland cells were constructed of on site material and were lined with R-6 Rock. The project does not treat an individual mine discharge. Instead the system treats all of the water of the Lower Rausch Creek. The spillways were damaged in 2001 floods, has since reverted to stream channel in those ponds. Ponds were constantly filling in due to stream channel sediment.
